I’m in full spring mode and finding so much inspiration lately for our yard. I’ve always loved the idea of creating a beautiful English garden. There is just something about flowers overflowing into one another and all the layers of colors and textures. I feel like English gardens are welcoming and cozy. I also love the way they are layered out. Almost like a home, instead of a large expanse of open space they are sectioned off. There are usually sweet spots for reading, a welcoming entry to a garden, and a fire pit. I’ve always felt overwhelmed at the idea of planning a backyard garden. But when I started breaking it down by space and how I would want to use each area I was better able to visualize what I wanted. Here’s some inspiration I’ve collocted as I’m trying to pull together ideas for our yard.
We have a spot in our yard that is slopped like this. It can be challenging to walk down. I love the idea of adding stairs using a natural element like stone covered in flowers. Source not found.
What a stunning welcome! With an sweet pathway like this it piques my interests of what the rest of the yard might look like.
Think outside the box- not all fences have to be word or chain-link. These arborvitae define the space as well as give privacy.
I love the look of the flowers spilling into the pathway.
You can never have to many terracotta pots.
Do you have a giant blank wall on your home? I have two spaces around our home I’m thinking of adding a climbing trellis.
My favorite gardens always have sweet moments like these. Little places to sit and read a book or chat with a friend.
I know that gardens like these take time and there’s a world of inspiration. I can’t wait to see how ours comes together throughout the years but I know we’re on our way to having all my English gardens dreams come true.
